Esteban Julio Ricardo Montoya De La Rosa Ramírez, in the popular Disney Series ; The Suite life of Zach and Cody, shares important lessons on his rise to stardom.

Apart from being a professional actor featured in several tv shows such as 24 and Hawaii 5, he is also an acting coach, a father of two and husband to be to Mayara Reina. Join me as we get to know better this talented actor, who has probably made us laugh and cry in front of our screens. To all the young aspiring actors, I hope you have a pen and paper ready to write down useful tips that will guide you in your acting career.

When and how did you start acting?

I started my career because I was a break dancer my whole high school years and the drama teacher asked me to audition for the musical Fame and she said that I will be able to be the lead dancer if I get the role… and got the role! So I had to act too. So that was my first acting experience in a big stage in front of a crowd. I did drama (before) but it was never that serious. After that performance of Fame, I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.

How old were you when you started acting?

17 If you were to be literary be born again into this world, would you still choose acting as a career?

1000% yes! I can’t see myself doing anything else What are some of the challenges have you encountered in your acting career?

Getting to know people that I exist is the hardest part. Getting discovered is the hardest part. That’s why discovery is a huge thing. Is not easy to discover something, let alone discover an actor when there are tones of wannabe actors. There are very few actual good actors that know what they are doing. So I went through the process and just went to my roots and started doing plays and got fortunate where an agent happened to watch it and signed me and that’s how I kinda got discovered.

What advice would you give to young people who want pursue acting?

Train! Train! Train! Train!....I don’t care how good you are at home with your mama, you are not going to compete with that guy who is starring in transformers movie. If you wanna know why, is because he got trained. He knows what he is doing onset. I know what I am doing and the best thing I do is to get trained. So TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN and keep doing what you love and act and act. But training is everything because just because you can throw a football 60 yards does not make you a professional quarterback. Of all the characters you have played, which was your best?

The best role which made me feel like a validated actor is when I did the character of Omar on 24...In the middle of doing ‘Suite life of Zach and Cody’, I went and filmed this and it was like an emotional scene. I played a middle eastern and am not even Middle Eastern.

So I had to learn the accent. It was a lot of work and was so proud of that. And then Kiefer Sutherland who is a famous actor who starred in 24 ‘Jack Bauer’ just whispered in some amazing things in my ear and basically told me that I was one of the best actors he’s worked with.

What else would you like to add?

I would just wanna say to my kids out there who want to be actors or performers, its so important to make sure you have the passion for it. You know because, if you have the passion no one is going to make you do this. You’re gonna want to do this. So I would definitely make sure I would find the passion in something. You’ll figure it out. Do things try things and then it will just hit you like a bug…..the flu, BOOM! All of a sudden you’ve got the flu and all over sudden you love acting and you wanna do this. But over all of that, I honestly feel like that everybody should go to college. Education is such a key factor to success. A smart person makes smart decisions, which in turn make money and you have a great living.
